Meet Our Visionary Founder, George Turvey
Recognizing the growing need for efficient management in the recycling sector, Lariat developed RecycleProx in 2000 - a transformative software that optimized operations for recycling businesses, including industry leaders like Wynberg Waste. This marked the company's entry into software development, setting the stage for future innovations.
Founded in 1994 as an engineering consultancy, Lariat Technologies has evolved into a leader in innovative software solutions. In 1997, under the leadership of George Turvey (see left image) and his associates, the company expanded its expertise beyond engineering, providing businesses with cutting-edge solutions in system implementation, reverse engineering, and operational management.
Building on its success, Lariat launched AMPLO in 2018, a powerful online reporting and management platform designed to give business centralized control over multiple branches. In 2019, the company introduced its payment solution, helping businesses transition to cashless operations and streamline financial transactions.
With over 3,000 active users across diverse industries, Lariat Technologies continues to push the boundaries of business efficiently, offering robust solutions tailored to modern operational challenges.

What does Lariat Technologies do?

What is Amplo?
Amplo is Lariat’s recycling management ecosystem. It includes tools for buying recyclables, managing cardholders, making secure payments, generating reports, and monitoring site performance from desktop or tablet devices.
Who is Amplo designed for?
Amplo is built for: Buy-Back Centres (BBCs), Recycling companies, Producer Responsibility Organisations (PROs), Municipal recycling projects, Community collection initiatives
How do reclaimers get paid?
Reclaimers receive an Amplo Card linked to their profile. When material is purchased, the payment is loaded directly onto the card, providing a secure, cashless payment solution with a complete transaction history.
What equipment is required?
A standard installation typically includes: Tablet or PC, Amplo card reader/swiper, Internet connection, such as Wi-Fi or mobile data, Optional receipt printer and barcode scanner, depending on site requirements
Can Amplo work across multiple sites?
Yes. Amplo is cloud-based, allowing organisations to manage and report on multiple buy-back centres from one central dashboard while maintaining separate site data.
What reports are available?
Amplo Insights provides reports including: Material purchased, Reclaimer activity, Daily and monthly turnover, Stock and inventory movement, Payment history, Site performance and operational analytics, Cash-Up Reports
Is training included?
Yes. Lariat provides user training during implementation, along with onboarding documentation and ongoing support to ensure staff are confident using the system.
